As of 2018, digital platforms across a select eight countries in Africa increased to a cumulative total of 268. In 2005, the cumulative total of digital platforms in these countries was five. Compared to the average rate of participation in platform economies, the focus countries included compare well with more digitally advanced and developed countries.
