In 2021, bulk carriers accounted for 35 percent of the shipbuilding industry's total output, which amounted to almost 60.8 million gross tons. With nearly 13.6 million gross tons delivered that year, oil tankers accounted for 22 percent of the global shipbuilding industry's production.
