Plastic raw materials domestic demand South Korea 2023, by material type

In 2023, domestic demand in South Korea for polypropylene (PP) amounted to around 1.5 million tons, making it the most in-demand type of raw plastic material. Demand for low-density polyethylene (LDPE) and high-density polyethylene (HDPE) also stood at over one million tons each. The previous year, South Korea produced over 4.9 million tons of PP, nearly three times the domestic demand.
