Chinese cruise passenger volume change 2020-2022, by duration

In 2022, the volume of passengers from mainland China taking a 7-day cruise vacation decreased by 90 percent compared to the previous year. However, the shorter cruises, those lasting between four and six days, increased in popularity with 140 percent more passengers choosing such a trip.

For trip durations between 8 and 20 days, the volume of passengers was less than two thousand and was therefore being excluded by the source.

According to the source, the passenger statistics are provided by CLIA's ocean cruise line members, which covered over 95 per cent of the global cruise industry capacity. Additional data was also collected from non-CLIA cruise lines by CHART Management Consultants.

To serve a consistent manner, one-night cruises were excluded in the analyses.
