In 2022, 3G was the dominant connection generation in Sub-Saharan Africa with around 55 percent of the mobile connections. 4G and 2G connections tied with approximately 22 percent of the connections in the region. It is forecasted that 4G connections' share will increase up to 47 percent in 2030 and that 5G will account for 16 percent, while 2G and 3G connections are expected to decrease to two and 35 percent respectively.
