Between 2013 and 2019, the share of merger and acquisition (M&A) deals that had a known value ranged from 68 percent to 75 percent. Although the share of known valued deals has risen in recent years, in 2019, approximately 25 thousand deals took place with no known value. This makes it extremely hard to know the exact total number and value of M&A deals that have taken place globally. That being said, valuation estimations will be relatively close as larger deals happen between publicly listed companies.
