Chikungunya cases in Latin America 2023, by country
Brazil is by far the country with the highest number of chikungunya infections in Latin America. In 2023, the number of cases reported in the South American country amounted to close to 257,000. Paraguay and Argentina followed, with 141,000 and 1,746 chikungunya cases, respectively. Meanwhile, six countries, including Ecuador, Chile, and Barbados had reported zero chikungunya cases that year.
