In 2020, 69.7 percent of survey respondents in Australia, who had no direct or indirect exposure to bushfires, indicated that they were either satisfied or very satisfied with where Australia was heading as a country. This rate of satisfaction decreased with the level of exposure the respondents had to bushfires, with the lowest self reported satisfaction levels being amongst respondents who had direct exposure to the fires.
