Approximately ten percent of payment cards issued in Russia were credit cards, reaching a total of over 37 million in 2018. Debit cards were found more often in the country, as that year there were around 250 million of these cards. The numbers provided are estimates, based on the figures central banks have to supply. Owning a payment card does not immediately indicate it gets used often, as there are large differences within Europe when it comes to the use of certain payment methods.

Figures on 2020 are the latest figures available as of early 2024.
Supplementary notes
No numbers were provided from before 2012; Figures were released in early 2024, and have a significant publication delay due to domestic data collection and reporting.
Figures refer to "cards with a credit function" and "cards with a debit function." However, due to the overlap with figures specifically covering "credit cards" and "debit cards" from the European Central Bank, it is assumed the two terms are used interchangeably. Do note that numbers can differ between the years as domestic definitions and recording methods changed.
