Over the period given, the passenger traffic of the American ultra-low-cost airline Spirit Airlines increased consistently until the coronavirus pandemic. In 2020, the company carried only 18.3 million passengers on its flights. This is a considerable decrease from the 33.8 million passengers carried in the previous year. In the following years, the passenger volume of Spirit Airlines started rising again and reached just above 44 million travelers in 2023.
