According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight, about 54 percent of respondents owned a Google Home or a Nest smart speaker. In the same survey, the majority of respondents who owned a smart speaker indicated that they wanted a device to control their music player without physically being on the device.

The survey was conducted among 868 female and 855 male respondents. Other surveyed countries included China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.
