The Witcher 3 reached eight million sales on Steam in January 2020. January also saw a new record in the number of concurrent players of the game on Steam.
The game was launched by the Polish video game developer company CD Projekt in May 2015 and enjoyed a revival due to the release of the Netflix series "The Witcher" in December 2019. According to the source, revenue from Steam sales of the game add up to 50 million U.S. dollars.
