Income and expenditure of leading universities in China 2019
In 2019, Tsinghua University in Beijing had the highest planned expenditures for that year of all universities under direct control of the Ministry of Education in China, amounting to around 24.35 billion yuan. 23 universities in China had planned expenditures above five billion yuan in 2019. Nearly half of the universities planning to have higher expenditures than income could rely on unspent funds carried over from the previous year, while the rest had to take up loans to fill the gap.
