In 2022, the northern state of Telangana in India recorded around 947 cases of cyber crimes committed with the intent of personal business gains. Overall, the country had over a thousand cases of such fraudulent business actions that year. These crimes came under the purview of numerous sections of the Indian Penal Code under Information Technology Act (Cyber crimes).
