In 2022, the state of Kerala in India had the highest number of cyber crimes motivated by slander with approximately 15 cases registered with the authorities. The country recorded a total of over 61 cases of cyber crimes with slander as motive that year. These crimes came under the purview of numerous sections of the Indian Penal Code under Information Technology Act (Cyber crimes).
