Credit cards and debit cards per capita in the Netherlands 2010-2023

In the Netherlands, credit cards per capita were 0.03 cards per person in 2021. Debit cards were found more often in the country, as debit card penetration reached over 1.5 that year. In 2023, there were more than two debit cards per person in the country, although the figure for credit cards was not reported. The numbers provided are estimates, based on the figures central banks have to supply. Owning a payment card does not immediately indicate it gets used frequently, as there are considerable differences within Europe when it comes to the use of certain payment methods.
