Credit cards and debit cards per capita in Germany 2010-2023

The number of credit cards per capita in Germany was up from roughly 0.05 in 2010 to 0.09 at the end of 2023. In comparison, debit cards were found more often in the country, as the number per capita of these cards almost reached two in 2023. The numbers provided are estimates, based on the figures central banks have to supply. Owning a payment card does not immediately indicate it gets used often, as there are large differences within Europe when it comes to the use of certain payment methods.
