According to a 2023 survey conducted by Rakuten Insight, about 33 percent of respondents owned a Google home or a Nest smart speaker. In the same survey, the majority of respondents owning a smart speaker indicated that they wanted a device to control their smart appliances remotely.

The survey was conducted among 6,268 female and 4,832 male respondents in Indonesia. Other surveyed countries included China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam.
