In 2023, around 111,500 hectares of oil palm plantations owned by IOI Group were located in East Malaysia. Almost 90 percent of the total oil palm planted area owned by IOI Corporation Berhad is located in Malaysia. IOI's biggest income generates from the palm oil plantations, and it is one of the world's largest palm oil companies. Besides owning refineries in the US and the Netherlands, IOI also owns palm oil plantations in Indonesia, with Bumitama Gunajaya Agro as its associate company.
