As many as 61 percent of music festival attendees in the United Kingdom in 2019 were accompanied by their friends, while 38 percent visited with their partner or spouse. In contrast to this a smaller number attended with family members such as children, siblings and parents, or showed up alone. Despite festivals' increased efforts to include activities that appeal to young and old alike, it is clear that a vast majority of visitors are drawn to festivals as a means for peer socialization, rather than spending time with family.
