During a study conducted in 2018 in Brazil, more than one third (37 percent) of the 259 institutions surveyed stated that their current investments in distance education remained the same during that year. Yet 36.3 percent of them stated that their future investments in distance learning would increase. In that year, approximately 34.4 percent of respondents claimed that the profitability of distance learning courses had remained the same.
