The state reported over 2.3 thousand cases that year, followed by the state of Karnataka with over 700 cases. Overall, the country recorded over 6.8 thousand offenses related to digital transmission of obscene acts that year. This category of crime came under the purview of Section 67 of the Indian Penal Code.
