Due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis and social distancing measures the UK government took, retail footfall after March 2020 saw an unprecedented fall. Not unexpectedly, visitor numbers to shopping centers took the biggest hit, declining by almost 85 percent in May 2020. Most recently reported numbers showed that in October 2024, the situation in shopping centers slowed down with the cooler weather, recording an decrease of 1.6 percent in footfall percent compared to the levels observed in the same month of the previous year...
