Santander: CO2 emissions by category

Banco Santander managed to lower their environmental footprint in terms of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in 2023 compared to 2019, in all scopes measured. Their largest GHG emissions were scope 2 emissions - indirect GHG emissions (location-based) - where the emissions was around 205,292 metric tons of CO2 equivalent in 2023.

These emissions include those derived from the direct consumption of energy (natural gas and diesel, and additionally, in the particular case of Mexico, gasoline and diesel for automobiles and LPG) and correspond to scope 1, defined by the GHG Protocol standard.
