Between 1972 and 2020, turnout among Hispanic voters in U.S. presidential elections fluctuated between 39 and 26 percent. Since 1972, turnout among Hispanic voters in the 25 to 44 age bracket has dropped from almost forty percent, below average and under thirty percent since the 1980s. In contrast, the oldest Hispanic voters have gone from being the least likely to vote in 1972, to consistently having the highest turnout since the 1996 election, exceeding 50 percent in 2020. Hispanic voters in the 45 to 64 bracket have had the most consistent turnout since 1972, ranging from 36 to 44 percent. Hispanic voters under the age of 25 have usually had the lowest turnout in presidential elections, although participation has increased in recent years, and was even higher than turnout among 25 to 44 year olds in 2008.

*Voter turnout figures relate to the share of eligible voters who take part in the election, and does not represent the share of the entire population (for example, under-18's, non-citizens, felons (rules vary)). Residents in U.S. overseas territories are eligible to vote in general elections, but may not vote in the presidential election.
