Belgium Facebook users 2024, by age group and gender

As of October 2024, the majority of Facebook users in Belgium were between 25 and 34 years old. Slightly more women used the social media platform than men, accounting for 52.2 percent of all users. Facebook’s penetration rate in Belgium in 2023 was 69.7 percent and is projected to reach 74.4 percent by 2026. Facebook expects to have a total of 7.79 million users in Belgium in two years’ time. 

In September 2022, Facebook was the fifth most downloaded social networking app onto iPhone devices, with almost 17 thousand downloads by iPhone users in Belgium. Although Facebook has faced controversy in recent months regarding content regulation, 38 percent of internet users got their news from the platform in 2023. Facebook was the leading social media brand used for accessing news in 2023 in Belgium, followed by YouTube, WhatsApp, and Instagram.

As of October 2024, in Belgium, Facebook’s instant messaging service Facebook Messenger was most popular with women, making up 51.7 percent of all users. Men in the 25 to 34 year age group were the platform’s largest audience when considering age and gender.

There were of total of 8.49 million social media users in Belgium in 2021. In addition, TikTok's user base in Belgium was 3.52 million in 2023. As of October 2024, there were around 5.41 million users of Instagram in Belgium, which is around 45.1 percent of the country's total population.
