In the Australian bushfire season of 2019-20, preliminary data showed that 47 of the 272 threatened plant species found in fire affected zones had 80 percent or more of their habitat burned. According to this study, more threatened plant species occurred in the fire affected areas than than all the Australian vertebrate and invertebrate threatened species combined.
