In the United Kingdom (UK), people take to social media platforms when seeking ideas for Valentine's Day gifts. According to the results of a consumer survey, while conventional channels such as supermarkets or word of mouth were still relevant for people who were on the hunt for gifts for their Valentine, online platforms like Google, Facebook, and Instagram were given as sources of inspiration for a substantial share of people. Of those surveyed, 30 percent said they used Facebook when seeking Valentine's Day gift inspirations.
