The largest unicorn exit in Europe involved the initial public offering (IPO) of Swedish music streaming service Spotify for approximately 29.5 billion U.S. dollars in 2018. Europe's largest unicorn exit was the seventh highest valued exit globally. In the world of venture capital, unicorns are private companies that are valued at one billion U.S. dollars or over. If that company subsequently goes public (IPO) or is acquired, it is no longer referred to as a unicorn. When a unicorn company does one of these two things, it is called an exit.
