In 2021, unicorn exits in North America reached 96. Meanwhile, 26 unicorns from the Asia-Pacific region and 15 from Europe exited the unicorns status. Unicorns in the world of venture capital are companies that are valued at one billion U.S. dollars or over. If that company subsequently goes public or is acquired, it is no longer referred to as a unicorn. When a unicorn company does one of these two things, it is called an exit. Going public via IPO, direct listing or reverse IPO was the more popular choice for unicorns to exit globally.
