In 2023, this figure rose to 50 million euros. Founded in 1951, the Sanremo Music Festival is currently the most popular song competition in Italy. Held annually in the Ligurian city of Sanremo, the festival is broadcasted by RAI, the national public broadcasting company. The festival's format was the main inspiration for the Eurovision Song Contest.
