Films produced in Russia earned a box revenue of almost 28 billion Russian rubles across the country in 2023, which was more than double of the previous year's figure. The revenue of foreign films fell by 63 percent between 2021 and 2022 due to the exodus of Western distributors from the Russian market in response to the war in Ukraine.
