In a survey conducted by Rakuten in Thailand in 2019, regarding the reasons why consumers had not tried functional beverages, just over 46 percent of male respondents said they had not consumed a functional beverage because they were not available where they lived. Comparatively, in the same survey just under eight percent of female respondents in Thailand stated they had not tried functional beverages because the ingredients were not appealing
