From fiscal year 2013 to 2018, approximately 83 billion Japanese yen were spent by the government of Japan on offering information on Japanese culture. In total close to 270 billion yen were utilized by the government for creating a "new Japan" towards the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics by the end of fiscal 2018.
