Latin America: Rainforest Alliance certified banana production 2016-2018

In 2018, production of banana certified by the Rainforest Alliance in Latin America amounted to more than 7.9 million metric tons, nearly 9.4 percent more than a year earlier. In that year, sales of certified banana from the region totaled more than 224 thousand metric tons. The Rainforest Alliance is a non-governmental organization that certifies goods and services that meet certain social, environmental, and economical sustainability standards.
