According to a survey conducted by Rakuten Insight in November 2019, around 57 percent of respondents in mainland China said that they had consumed fermented and probiotic drinks that claimed to promote gut health. These include beverages such as kombucha tea or drinks with added raw apple cider vinegar. Less than 18 percent of the Chinese respondents said they had never tried any functional beverages.
