Brazilian Carnival: average costs of domestic flights 2021, by city

Carnival, one of the most important cultural events in Brazil, was for the most part cancelled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally, this event was planned to take place that year from February 12 to 17. Despite cancellations, Brazilians were still looking to travel during the period to some of the favorite Carnival destinations in the country. For the second weekend of February 2021, a domestic round trip to Rio de Janeiro would cost an average of 512 Brazilian reals, while a trip to Salvador averaged 704 reals. Nevertheless, the city of Maceió, located north of Salvador, was the most expensive destination during Carnival season that year, with an average one thousand reals for a round flight.
