According to research conducted in late 2019, documentaries made up just eight percent of the Disney+ content catalog. However, Disney's efforts to diversify its offerings beyond just family content mean the service will include more documentaries in the future. A total of 28 percent of originals commissioned for Disney+ are documentaries, with 15 new documentary titles due to be released out of the 54 total titles on the streaming service's upcoming slate.
