Around 27 percent of Japanese respondents viewed the lack of support women receive from employers in work and care responsibilities as the most crucial factor hindering the achievement of gender equality in the country, according to a survey on women's equality conducted by Ipsos in 2019. Among 28 countries surveyed, Japan showed the lowest share of respondents, only four percent, claiming that their country has already achieved equality between women and men.
