In 2024, the highest density of car sharing vehicles in German cities was found in Karlsruhe. Here, there were 5.35 car-sharing vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants. Berlin came second, with around 2.58 car-sharing vehicles per 1,000 inhabitants. In total, there were over 43,000 car-sharing vehicles in Germany in 2024.
The term car sharing refers to the shared use of one or more passenger cars. In contrast to conventional car rental services, car sharing allows for the short-term rental of vehicles.
