According to an estimate from February 2019, the number of paid video streaming service users in Japan was expected to reach 23.6 million people by the end of 2021. It was projected that subscription video on demand (SVoD) users would constitute the main user share with close to 21 million people, while transactional video on demand (TVoD) users would number less than three million people.
