In 2023, there were approximately 22 million households with internet connection in Thailand. The share of households with internet connection in Thailand has been increasing in the past years. With the rising internet penetration and greater accessibility to mobile internet, Thais are spending more time online.

Internet in Thailand has become more accessible, as seen from the continuously increasing rate of internet penetration in the country. This has led to a competition among internet providers such as AIS, True and Dtac to provide consumers with a good browsing performance rate. Furthermore, the Thai government is promoting the access to 5G in order to improve online infrastructures in Thailand. 

Future of internet industry in Thailand

Internet users in Thailand are among the leading people who spend most of the time online compared to other countries in the world, especially via mobile phones. Internet use among Thais is mainly driven by mobile internet penetration. Since mobile subscription is becoming more affordable and accessible, more than half of the internet users in the country stated that they frequently use mobile internet. With increasing efforts for better internet technology in the country, it is likely that more online services will continue to expand such as e-wallet services along with higher potential growth in the e-commerce sector.
