Number of coworking space operators in Europe H1 2020, by city

Big cities concentrate economic activities, business, and employment opportunities and thus create conditions for a vibrant office real estate market. Coworking, flexible workspaces and serviced offices, which provide office space as a service are one of the ways the market adapts to the needs of its customers.

Flex space operators

In the first half of 2020, London led the way among European cities both in terms of the number of flexible office operators at 148, and new leased flexible office space. The preferred locations for investment and development were the central business districts, with most European coworking hotspot cities having the majority of their coworking spaces there.

Office real estate in London

High rental costs are often an indicator for high demand, and this is especially valid for London which had a vacancy rate of 4.9 percent in 2019 and was the most expensive city for prime office spaces, compared to many leading European markets.
