Item purchase and research: in-store vs. online in France 2019, by product type
In 2019, French consumers were asked if they prefered to shop online or in-store. Thus, for travel bookings and software, online shops prevailed to 71 percent and 67 percent, respectively. For ready-to-wear products as well as cosmetics, the purchase platforms were fairly equal in terms of procurement channel, where 37 and 34 percent of the respondents mentioned online shops as their adopted method of purchase and 38 percent would turn to physical locations. Physical stores dominated to 41 percent for food, hygiene and maintenance.
