Distribution of coworking spaces in European cities 2019, by location

The preferred locations for investment and development of a flexible office space in Europe as of 2019 were the central business districts, with seven out of thirteen cities having more than 80 percent of their coworking spaces located there. Flexible office space, also referred to as coworking space or shared office space, refers to commercial office space that allows short-term leases to individuals, freelancers, small and medium enterprises, and other professionals. In contrast to traditional offices, flexible offices provide equipped and serviced office premises without long-term rent commitment. Multiple factors influence the increasing demand for flexible office space, such as economic growth, job creation, innovation and property market fundamentals. According to a survey among real estate industry experts, serviced offices are among the most prosperous sectors to invest in and develop in Europe in 2020.
