According to a survey in November 2019, 81 percent of respondents in Malaysia who earned more than five thousand Malaysian ringgit a month stated that they were aware of virtual banking. The digital approach is growing as a part of the business model for banks in Malaysia. In December 2019, Bank Negara, Malaysia's central bank, established licensing frameworks for virtual banks in the country.
