In 2019, only eleven percent of respondents in Italy thought that the Italian political system properly represented the views and interests of its citizens. Among 27 countries surveyed by Ipsos, Italy was the most unsatisfied with the representative democratic institutions. Similarly, Italy's trust in the future of democracy was also weak. In fact, 21 percent of interviewees did not think that their children were going to live in a better democracy than the current one.
