In 2019, Intesa Sanpaolo was the leading banking group in Italy in terms of number of employees. In fact, the Italian bank employed over 89 thousand individuals in that year. Second in the ranking presented in the graph came UniCredit, Intesa Sanpaolo's biggest competitor in the country, with approximately 82 thousand employees. Far behind in third place was Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, which employed approximately 22 thousand individuals in 2019.
