The 2019 survey by IPSOS showed that 84 percent of Russians strongly or somewhat agreed that free trade was beneficial for their country's economy. The second most supported statement was that the domestic political system was under control of a corrupt elite, as per 70 percent of respondents. Only one quarter of survey participants from Russia agreed that their national political system well represented interests and views of its citizens.

"To what extent do you agree or disagree about the following statements?" The figures represent the share of respondents answering "strongly agree" and "somewhat agree."
* The original phrasing was "Given that digital technology allows for direct democracy, my country should consider reducing the powers of elected officials so I can have a more direct say in how my country is governed."
** The source specified that the sample that is "more urban & educated,
and with higher incomes than their fellow citizens." Not nationally representative of the country.
"The precision of Ipsos online polls are calculated using a
credibility interval with a poll of 1,000 accurate to +/- 3.1
percentage points and of 500 accurate to +/- 4.5 percentage
points."
