According to a 2019 report, as much as 336 thousand tonnes of clothing ended up in household residual waste in the United Kingdom. The results from the report on textile consumption and used textiles in the UK further revealed that the majority of discarded clothing ended up in kerbside collections. Other than clothing items, other textile items such as shoes, bags and belts, of about 194 thousand tonnes, ended up in in household residual waste.
